Roads will remain treacherous from snow and sleet until mid-day, when sunshine shroud melt most of it away. Snow is likely to remain on the ground until Friday.
Heavy smoke from a wildfire near I-35 in the Arbuckles forced the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to shut down two major highways Thursday afternoon. I-35 and US 77 were shut down for nearly 3 hours due to the heavy smoke.
The closings occured north of Ardmore in the Arbuckle Mountains. The fires rekindled Thursday morning after burning on Wednesday.
Two air tankers and two black hawk helicopters were called in to help, along with more than a dozen local department.
