2-20-06- Disney's "8 Below" was a hit at the box office this past weekend, but two of the stars of the movie hale from Texoma. Two of the six Siberian Huskies in the movie are from Woodbine, Texas, in rural Cooke County.
Carol Dixon is the proud owner of Howard and Ryan. The dogs were hand picked after auditions to star in the movie. After five months of braving the cold and training to sled, the dogs made their trek to fame.
Dixon has been a breeder of Huskies for over 40 years and says it was very rewarding to produce a dog with quality and the right character to be a movie star. Disney paid $2,000 for each dog, which is about the average price for a husky.
