2-23-06- Austin College students who went down to the gulf to help the Katrina Relief effort presented their experiences on Thursday.
62 students and three professors spent the January term living in tents in the New Orleans area. A majority of their time was spent mucking out hurricane-damaged houses, and assisting groups like Habitat for Humanity and animal shelters.
Teachers say the personal stories of hurricane victims really touched the students. The trip made such an impact on some of the students, 32 of them are returning to help more during Spring Break in March.
