3-2-06 - Around 5:00 p.m. Thursday a citizen reported seeing a white male standing naked in the bushes “touching himself”. The man was said to be close to the jogging trail in the area of the swimming pool.

When Officer Melson arrived he went to the area where the man was last seen. Officer Melson looked through some bushes and saw a man standing in a small cleared area north of the pool and jogging trail. The man was not wearing any clothes but was wearing a blue cap.

Officer Melson started through the bushes to go after the man. The man turned and saw Officer Melson. The man pulled up his shorts, which had been around his ankles, and ran. Officer Melson chased the suspect on foot.

The suspect was unaware that other officers were in the area also. Sgt. John Talcott joined the chase and the man was captured a short distance later. After the man was arrested it was found that he had exposed himself in the presence of a 10 year old witness.

The man was arrested for Indecency with a Child. This charge is a third degree felony which is punishable by two to ten years in prison and up to a $10,000.00 fine. The suspect was transported to the Grayson County Jail by the officers.

The suspect is 39-year old David Woodard of Sherman. Woodard isl incarcerated in the Grayson County Jail and a bond amount had not been set.
