3-3-06 - It may not be looking its best currently, but the Cooke County Courthouse will soon be shining on the screen. Even with plywood covering its windows and construction equipment all around the area for the past eight months, the courthouse still ahs movie start looks.
Preservation Texas has commissioned a team to come to Gainesville and film the courthouse for a 30-minute documentary that will debut later in March. It is a documentary that will focus on the restoration of some Texas’ most historical court buildings.
The Cooke County Courthouse is one of 50 in the historical restoration project program and one of just 20 being restored. The crew finished shooting this week. The documentary will air in Austin first, before being disseminated to public television stations across the state.
The Cooke Courthouse’s restoration is expected to be complete sometime in June.
