Several rounds of thunderstorms through Saturday will have the potential to produce flooding rains, and a few isolated hail cores or strong winds are possible. Never drive into flooded areas...turn around, don't drown!
3-6-06 - A Tishomingo woman and her 2-year-old sister were both killed in a head-on accident with an 18-wheeler on highway 377 between Madill and Tishomingo on Monday. Two pick-ups were involved in the accident near Bell Creek road.
Troopers say a 2001 peterbuilt semi-truck driven by John B. Daleen, 48, was northbound on US 377 when he ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and went left of center. The 18-wheeler side swiped a 2003 Chevy pickup driven by Jimmy M. Henthorn, 30, of Tishomingo. The semi continued on, striking a 2nd 2003 Chevy truck head-on. Layla Goodpasture, 25, and Jessie S. Almond-Frazier, 2, were both pinned in the truck for 2 hours and died at the scene.
Henthorn was treated and released foe minor injuries. Daleen was not injured.
Highway 377 reopened around 4:00 p.m. after being shut down for OHP to clean up and reconstruct the accident. They will turn their findings over to the DA’s office to see if any criminal charges will be filed.
