3-7-06 - Agents met at the Ardmore Convention Center Monday at 4:00 a.m. to start a massive round up of meth users from north Texas and southern Oklahoma. They hit dozens of homes, with a focus on Ardmore and Gainesville.
103 arrest warrants were issued for the roundup with 56 of the accused from Ardmore and 19 from Gainesville. Operation 700 Ranch Roundup started last May when drug agents started seeing a pattern of traffickers using different jurisdictions including Indian casinos to deal drugs. Along with the arrests officers also confiscated over 15 lbs. of meth, which is around $80,000 in street value. Also, around 500 grams of crack/cocaine, over 2,000 grams of marijuana, and 50 guns were confiscated.
Several agencies from both states planned this operation for about a year. The agencies include the DEA, the US Attorney’s Office, the 20th District Drug Task Force, Ardmore and Gainesville Police, the Carter County Sheriff’s Department, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
