Only 10% Voter Turnout in Texas Primaries

3-8-06 - Only about one in every ten registered voters in Texas cast ballots in the primaries. The Secretary of State's office says overall primary election turnout Tuesday in the Republican and Democratic primaries was about 10%.

Election officials had predicted turnout could reach 13% of the state's 12.7 million registered voters. Runoffs are set for April 11th. The general election will be held on November 7th.
