New Promotion For Drug Awareness

3-10-06 - The effects of meth use will soon be hard to ignore in Grayson County with a new ad campaign from the sheriff’s office that will be launched on Monday, and they say these ads will not be easy to look at.

About three years ago the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office received a $220,000 grant from the Department of Justice to fight the meth epidemic. In that time the department used the money to buy tools and equipment to help take down labs, but their latest purchase is something that will be seen all over the county.

A 30-second spot will be running on Channel 12 and UPN Texoma. The ad uses local students from S&S High School to demonstrate the life with and without meth use. And pictures from the commercial will show a woman before and after the drug use and will be used in newspapers and on billboards in the area. The goal is to prevent students from ever trying meth and to stop an addiction before it starts.

The television ads will begin running on Monday with newspaper and billboard ads beginning shortly after next week.
