3-18-06 – A Chickasha volunteer firefighter, critically injured battling wildfires in Stephens County, is still hospitalized.
Destry Horton’s arms were amputated and he may also loose a foot. About 50 percent of his body was burned after the 32-year-old was trapped by a wildfire near Duncan on March 1st.
Horton is hospitalized at the Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
People gathered in Rush Springs, Oklahoma for “Music in the Park.” The event raises money for Horton and another firefighter, Joe Crabb. Crabb was also injured in the blaze with Horton.
Across the area, other fundraisers were held for volunteer fire departments in Bryan County and in Davis, Oklahoma.
