Goodbye Ceremony for Local Soldiers

3-24-06- About 500 Oklahomans gathered tonight in the field house of the Midwest City High School to bid farewell to Oklahoma National Guard troops headed to Iraq.

About 150 men and women in the one-thousand-and-345th
Transportation Company will leave Sunday for training at Fort Bliss
in Texas.

The troops will train there for about three months before leaving for Iraq.

They will provide transportation support in the war on terrorism, transporting combat equipment to various bases in Iraq.

The troops are expected to be there between a year and 15 months
before returning.

Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin was at tonight's ceremony and
said she's proud of troops and hopes they all return home safely.
