Steve LaNore's Web Weather Discussion:
Rain Ending, Pleasant Fall Weather Ahead
3:15 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2008
The cold front has now passed through all of the KXII viewing area. Rain may linger especially over easternmost counties through this evening, but most of the rain is over.
Two-day rainfall totals illustrate the spotty nature of this rain event: amount range from zero around Durant and Antlers to four-tenths at Hugo and Ada, a half inch at Gainesville, and nearly an inch at Tishomingo.
Drier air is moving in behind the front and this, along with the departure of the upper trough, should end the rain in all areas by sunrise. Clouds will be a little more difficult to shake: the overall trend should be for clouds to decrease during the day Thursday from north to south. It will be quite chilly, especially Friday night/Saturday morning when cooling will be most efficient under clear skies, dry air, and almost no wind.
I expect clear to partly cloudy skies for the weekend with high pressure firmly in control. The next chance of rain is about a week away, when another upper trough and surface front make their way towards Texoma.
Here are the numbers:
Tonight: 40% Showers East…..Lows 50-58
Thursday: Decreasing Clouds…..Highs 68-73
Friday: Mostly Sunny…..48/74
Saturday: Mostly Sunny…..44/75
Sunday: Mostly Sunny…..51/78
Monday: Mostly Sunny, Breezy…..58/75
Tuesday: Partly Cloudy…..52/76
Wednesday: 30% Showers/Storms …..55/78
May You Have A Most Excellent Thursday!
