ARDMORE, Okla. -- A Carter County man has pleaded guilty to charges of unlawfully removing a dead body. Roy Bassett was arrested in December after a young woman was found dead near a Carter County oil field.

Authorities accused him of moving her body after she died and dumping the remains in a field.

Bassett was in court Wednesday and did enter a guilty plea before Judge Lee Card. Sentencing is set for September.

Just to let everyone know Brandi was a wonderful person she did not deserve anything that happened to her no one does As for everyone just gossiping and acting like they know what is happening Brandi did not overdose ya she may have done drugs but that was not the cause of her death so get your facts straight Also anyone who could take up for that sorry piece of s*** Roy needs to wake up and think about how they would feel if that happened to their loved one and as for this B**** named Joy your are the most retarded person if you think for one second he wouldn't blow up and do the same to you He was supposed to be Brandis friend also but look what happened so keep trusting this pyscho and see what happens and I'm suprised your still defending him after he messed around so much on your stupid a** Anyone who had anything to do with this will get whats coming to them whether it's tommorrow of 10 yrs down the road eveyone who had a part will pay for what they did So Roy and joy suck a d***!

puhleaze. He could have plead not guilty on the hopes that *might* get off. Instead he plead guilty, with no plea deal (according to other sites) and is (presumably) going to take his punishment like a man. He may well be crazy, but at least he plead guilty. To drag all the families involved through a trial, bringing out who knows what information that would then be public and no doubt involve speaking ill of the dead? Should everyone who's ever committed a crime be instantly banned from working? 'Cause I'm thinking, that might be a big ole problem for Carter County.

I read these comments about Brandi and it is a terrible shame that people like Roy an Joy are so heartless. You people should be ashamed of yourself. This guy obviously has something to do with Brandi's death. Otherwise, why would he quietly dispose of her body like a piece of trash. No, you two are a disgrace to this forum. May God have Mercey on your sorry asses!!!!!!

Well Roy and Joy I guess your mom was to messed up on drugs when you were growing up to teach you manners. You never speak ill of the dead, or at least that is what we are taught in Texas. You are cold hearted.

Roy & Joy In reference to your comment that she is a druggie and her kids don't miss her. I have to say first-hand her kids miss her terribly. If you are a mother hanging around this sick-o I believe DHS needs to investigate you for not choosing your friends more wisely. And if this sick-o will do that to an adult what's to say he won't do it to a child his or anyone else's may meet with fate (chocking falling any number of things) while at his home and he does the same thing to them (dumps them) because God forbid he freaks out!(In my opinion this man doesn't have a heart and anyone defending him is lacking a heart also.

I'm a friend of Brandi and her family. It is so sick how everyone can pass judgement on how she lived her life but yet you know nothing about her except what you have read in the paper and heard though rumors. She loved her children and being a mother to them. Yes, she did things some people might not do when they have a child(ren) but thats no reason to say she deserved what happened to her. The person that took her life and then the jerk that dumped her had no right, its not their place its Gods to pass judgement. If Roy did nothing wrong why dump her why not call the police and have them take her away RESPECTFULLY.I believe he is hiding something!! My prayers are with her family and especially her sons.

I have seen the news reports and news papers. From my understanding is that she die of a drug overdose.. That was reported out of Okl City, Ok from the Medical Ex office...

Rou & Joy I hope "someone" doesnt find you like they will Roy!

Posted by: boo Location: Healdton on Jul 26, 2008 at 08:36 PM
Roy and Joy what a horrible thing to say! I imagine her father as well as other family members read this, and I just can't imagine someone saying what you did. It doesn't matter if she did drugs or what, she was a mother, a daughter...etc. I do hope you never go through what her family is going through right now, and if you happen to do so I do hope some idiot doesn't make a comment like that about your loved one. You are probably right about blessing Roy, he needs all the prayers he can get, apparently he is one very sick person. I chose NOT to bless him, that is my option and I would rather just damn him to hell for doing that to a young mother and fellow human being regardless of her history of drugs or anything else, no one deserves to be murdered and they dang sure don't deserve to be dumped in a field like some stray animal. AND THAT IS JUST MY OPINION. You seem to be sadly lacking in knowledge of the human heart, no matter what kind of parent children have, they still grieve

Posted by: roy &joy on Jul 26, 2008 at 04:54 PM
as I said BLESS THIS MAN.and if the woman was a druggie her kids still don't miss her.just my option

I agree with you "boo" Grace will not get my vote. Not just about this ordeal, but where are his deputies? Ardmore? Lone Grove? Why do they not patrol the county like they are expected and paid to do? Im hoping by me and all my family and friends voting for Grant that maybe we can spread the word and get better patrol and crime fighting. Ive heard that Grant has promised to help and support Healdton PD in ANY way possible. Im saying you cant beat that Healdton! Lets vote Grant and get some support for our officers here in the healdton area!

ok, i think this story came out on wednesday, he still has his job at sooner electric in healdton, i saw his car at work on thursday. tells a lot about the place where he works.

Posted by: boo Location: Healdton on Jul 25, 2008 at 03:11 PM
No way in hell would I bless someone who dumped a body like that...I have a daughter and if some freak had done that to her remains I would take care of it myself instead of depending on the law enforcement in this county aka "a joke" btw GRACE you are NOT getting MY VOTE! Maybe we should consider vigilante justice being there is NO law and order in the big town of Healdton? Bless the family and the children of the victim and justice will be served by God. Just one more sick mofo in the ratty town of Healdton stepping over a dead body to go to work. Like the old saying goes "if you want to get away with murder or need to dump a body just go to Carter County Oklahoma"!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: My Thoughts on Jul 25, 2008 at 04:38 AM
You know..There is no reason to bless this man.. He is crazy and everyone in the Healdton area knows it! Just ask around, and see what kind of information you get on this guy. He has always been that way. I am sure he didnt see anything wrong when he stepped over her body and went to work. He is sick, and always has been. She wasnt the sharpest pencil in the box either, I think she prolly just over dosed and he freaked out!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: G-ville on Jul 24, 2008 at 12:44 PM
Why would anyone bless someone like this? Even if this was a self induced death, he should have contacted someone. He is apparently guilty of something, be it drugs, murder, ect., but in no way should he be praised!

Posted by: VERY AFFECTED Location: MARIETTA on Jul 24, 2008 at 12:04 PM
To Anonymous 9:36pm You sure are quick to decide he didn't kill her.If not him then suppose you are closer to this than willing to admit. He had already said he was going to take care of her and also where she would be put. So they did things together, he gave her drugs and took her to the casinos. (KNOWN FACT) People that do drugs I have been told have a way of killing someone with a hotshot. He managed to get rid of everything but in the end God will judge him.

Thats just another awsome foul up by HPD and the sheriff's office! Since they sucked it up this sick murderer gets to make bond!! How do you all feel knowing that a murderer is back in healdton and there is no police department to speak of? Come on...The sheriff office took a lot of the investigation...thats why he is out on bond! get grace out!!

Posted by: reader Location: ardmore on Jul 24, 2008 at 09:22 AM
I don't know this man or the young mother that died BUT how could he just leave her dead at his house go to work ,then come back and move her ? did not care anything about her at all?our paper said she had been staying at his house .what kind of person could just leave her ?he must be very cold.

Posted by: puzzled on Jul 24, 2008 at 07:00 AM
is this all you have on this story i think i would have found more detail before printing this one on a 1 to 10 scale you get a 1.5 for the headline

Posted by: affected Location: marietta on Jul 24, 2008 at 06:17 AM
You know you people are sick. He had no choice but to plead guilty. Shame it wasn't your daughter or son dumped in a field and maybe you wouldn't be so quick as to bless this man and make him look like he done a good deed. Think about it.

Posted by: WOW Location: Healdton on Jul 24, 2008 at 01:12 AM
We always knew this cat was strange. and he has made comments before of how he was put on this earth to destroy all humans, because they really werent human...some kind of green blob thing or something. he talks to dead people all the time.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 23, 2008 at 09:36 PM
he dd not kill her ,she was a druggie, she kill herself

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 23, 2008 at 08:45 PM
hmmm... what does roy know about this woman?? only time will tell. say maybe about 3-5 years!!

Posted by: me on Jul 23, 2008 at 07:55 PM
LOL at stepping up. Seriously? If he had nothing to do with her death, why panic and dump the body? Another case of Oklahoma justice at it's finest.

Posted by: ljm Location: gene autry on Jul 23, 2008 at 07:49 PM
You have no clue how this has affected our life's. Someone needs to investigate Okla. M.E.'s office. Would you think that a type-o could be the reason that they put her eyes as brn. instead of blu.? (brown- blue) how could that of happened? How can a person get away with this? Maybe we need to revise the justice system, steal something and get in more trouble that to dump a BODY? HELLO, is that right? That is just stupid! A life is taken and no justice, 2 boys that now has to live without their MOM. How sad is that? No respest for a human life, that is not God like or respect for anyone or anything!!!!

Posted by: J. Location: Ardmore on Jul 23, 2008 at 07:35 PM
The "young woman" and "remains" they speak of was a friend of mine. Don't bless this man, to H*LL with this man. I hope he gets put away for many many years, then they announce the day of his release so we can be there to string his punk *ss up. No mercy, just like my friend received - NO MERCY. Hope the judges get the job done for once.

Posted by: Matt Location: DeadRat on Jul 23, 2008 at 07:18 PM
Did he kill her or just move her? Did he have anything to do with her death? There is a lot missing from this story...

Posted by: Tamara Location: Canada on Jul 23, 2008 at 07:09 PM
Way to step up, Roy, sincerely. That was brave.
