Wednesday and Thursday are Weather Aware days due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Isolated strong thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday afternoon, but widespread severe weather does not appear to be likely at this time.
4-8-06 – Volunteers in Bryan County joined a state-wide cleanup campaign Saturday. Members of the Beta Sigma Phi service sorority cleanup a creek along Highway 70 in Durant.
About 150 people collected litter in Bryan County; organizers say their goal is to pick up more than twelve tons of trash.
Three times the number of volunteers turned out for this year’s trash off organized by the Durant Beautification Committee and Keep Bryan County Beautiful.
The organizations targeted several litter trouble spots Saturday.
