Weather Aware conditions continue overnight due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 7 a.m. for the northernmost portions of Texoma including Atoka, Coal, Johnston, Murray and Pontotoc Counties Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Rain ends NW to SE during the day Thursday.
4-9-06 – Sunday afternoon, a Life Star medical helicopter made an emergency landing in Sherman. The helicopter was on its way back to Wilson N. Jones Hospital after fueling at the Grayson County Airport when the pilot reported a faulty reading on the oil gage.
The pilot immediately touched down in a field near Plainview Road and FM 1417 around 2:20pm. Grayson County Department of Public Safety troopers, the Sherman Fire Department and the Grayson County Airport fire department all rushed to the scene of the emergency landing.
The pilot and two paramedics were on board, but no one was injured.
