Murder/Suicide in Cooke County

4-10-06 - Two people died over the weekend in an apparent murder/suicide in Cooke County. The Cooke County Sheriff says several people were at a residence late Saturday night when a horrific scene played out at the front door.

Just before 11:00 p.m. the sheriff’s office received three 911 phone calls reporting a shooting. Investigators say 33-year old Eric Hensley and his wife were with several guests at the their home. Witnesses say Hensley became hostile towards his wife, so she called her mother, 40-year old Tina Hott.

When Hott arrived to the front door of the house, Hensley shot her with an AK-47, and then turned the gun on himself. Both Hott and Hensley were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hensley’s have a one-year old child who was home the night of the shooting, but was not in the room where the shooting occurred. No one else was injured and investigators are still tracking down more witnesses before closing the investigation.
