Murder Charge Filed in Purcell Death

4-17-06 - A first-degree murder charge was filed Monday against a Purcell grocery store stocker who's accused of killing 10-year old Jamie Bolin in an elaborate plan to eat human flesh. Prosecutors say 26-year old Kevin Ray Underwood is charged in last week's death of Jamie Rose Bolin.

Underwood then appeared in McClain County District Court for arraignment where the judge entered a not guilty plea for him and provided him with a court-appointed attorney. Underwood was arrested Friday and the girl's body was found in a container in his apartment in the same apartment complex where she lived with her father. She had disappeared Wednesday.

Purcell Police Chief David Tompkins says Underwood apparently planned to kidnap, rape, torture and kill a person, then decapitate the body, drain it of blood, rape it and eat it before disposing of the organs and bones.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday morning for Bolin. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Purcell High School gymnasium. A graveside service will follow in Guthrie where the girl's mother lives.
