4-24-06 - Identity theft is a growing problem in the Texoma area, and one specific type of ID theft is catching the attention of banks. Banks say they see several types of fraud complaints, almost on a daily basis; including counterfeit payroll checks and pick pocketing.
The thieves are stealing wallets and taking information to file for applications for credit. American Bank representatives say the most frequent victims are the elderly.
Sherman Police say the problem has also caught the attention of the Department of Public Safety.
