4-29-06 - WACO, Texas (AP) - A tornado near Waco early today killed two horses belonging to Baylor University's new equestrian program.
Six other horses suffered cuts and bruises. The tornado also destroyed the home of the team's coach and the barn where the horses were kept.
The tornado was part of powerful winds and thunderstorms that produced baseball-sized hail and knocked out power in northern parts of the state.
The horses were being kept on coach Ellen White's land until construction on Baylor's equestrian center was complete.
The two horses killed had been donated to the first-year program.
