ARDMORE, Okla. -- For the second time this month, someone selling fresh produce at a roadside stand was robbed in Ardmore.
A man was selling watermelons from the back of his truck over the lunch hour at Second and P Northeast when a would-be customer turned out to be a crook.
Police were called to the scene. They are now looking for the suspect.
"A white Dodge pickup newer model, dark tinted windows drove up to the area. A white male got out, slender build, white t-shirt, blue jeans, blond hair about shoulder length. At that time he just grabbed the money bag from the owner, jumped back into the Dodge pickup, and then took off," Cpl. John Randolph of the Ardmore Police Department said.
On August 13, another bold snatch-and-grab robbery took place at a popular fruit stand on Grand Avenue. Police are still looking for the thief in that case.
They do not believe the two robberies are connected.
