Wednesday and Thursday are Weather Aware days due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Isolated strong thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday afternoon, but widespread severe weather does not appear to be likely at this time.
4-30-06 – Nine families were left homeless by the storms in Cooke County. The Texoma Area Chapter of the Red Cross has provided temporary shelter for the families at local hotels.
Assistance is still available for Cooke County residents who still need help. The Red Cross office will be Monday at the Cooke County courthouse tomorrow from nine in the morning until three in the afternoon.
The Red Cross is also asking for local volunteers and will hold a meeting for anyone interested on Tuesday, May 9th at noon in the courthouse conference room.
