For people in Sulphur, big trucks flying by have been a common sight. But a bill sitting on Governor Henry's desk could change all that, or at least slow it down.
The proposal would create on and off ramps where the Chickasaw Turnpike meets Highway 177, allowing big trucks who need access to 177 from the turnpike or vice versa the ability to do so.
Safety was a big issue when lawmakers proposed the bill. Now, truckers have to go through town on Highway 7 to get to where they need to go. That's the same road that Sulphur schools are near where kids have to cross that street.
If Governor Henry signs the bill, work on the project could begin by as early as this summer.
