JB, couldn't agree more. If some of the old traditions where still instilled today, there would not be so much crime. You steal from someone, you loose a hand. Everyone will know you're a thief and cannot be trusted. I could almost guarentee there wouldn't be so many burglaries around if that old tactic was still in play....they would be to scared to get caught.

To JB--------AMEN, brother! It sucks that we can't even go to the store and leave our house unlocked as well as our car. But that's the way the world is.

I think this is a good story. It is a reminder to those that still don't "get it" that you should never leave any item of value in plain sight for a low life lazy thief to thinks it's all out there for them to steal. The victim now has all the fun hassle of canceling credit cards, getting a new driver's license etc...

I guess I will play devils advocate, but I feel if you want the things I have, go out get a job and buy one just like mine. I should be able to leave my car unlocked and my purse, laptop, wallet, whatever out in plain sight and my doors unlocked. (Not that I do or can.) These things are mine and I worked for it, get a job and get your own. Yes, thieves are everywhere and you should have your hands cut off when you take things from someone else. Just getting sick and tired of people thinking everyone else owes them because gas went up, house forclosed, using drugs. Suck it up and get a job and PAY for the things you want. Work two jobs if you have good taste!!!

She should have put her purse in the trunk like any other common sense person. Thieves are everywhere in the news nowadays, why would you just make it easier for them? If you gonna leave your purse, wallet, laptop, etc, in the car....you lock them in the trunk!!!! You don't leave them in your front seat so that a passerby can see them and try to get into your vehicle so they can get them. People are getting desperate and citizens have to take those extra steps to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their property.

Agree. If the CCard was used then shouldn't there have been an attendant or camera nearby?

Some windows do not have the door frame all the way around the window glass. On an older car as the things wear out like the weather striping it gets easier to pull the glass and get a gap

Uh, if the credit card was immediately used, how about checking the location at which the purchase was made? And why didn't she put her wallet/purse in the trunk? Of course, that won't always deter thieves; but .....

Just curious but how do you pull the window away on a locked car? Was the window broken? I don't get that description.
