Wednesday and Thursday are Weather Aware days due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Isolated strong thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday afternoon, but widespread severe weather does not appear to be likely at this time.
05-05-06 - This Tuesday emergency workers in Ardmore will find out just how prepared the city is in the event of a tornado.
Emergency Management as well as the police and fire departments will be simulating an actual tornado emergency Tuesday afternoon. Between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. the sirens will go off and everyone will spring into action.
The simulation will give residents a chance to determine their plans at work, home, and school in case of a tornado. Officials say if there is an actual threat of severe weather Tuesday, the drill will be postponed to another day.
You can visit FEMA’s website on tornado simulations, as well as to find more information on tornado's.
The Red Cross has more information on how to be prepared for severe weather like tornado's on their website.
