SHERMAN, Tex. -- Police reveal new details about the fatal bus crash in Sherman on August 8. The report on the deadly bus crash that happened on U.S. Highway 75 was released Wednesday afternoon.

The report reveals faulty evasive action may have contributed to the deadly crash as the driver tried to control a tour bus with a blown front tire that had been re-treaded.

The report on that deadly bus crash that happened in Sherman was released Wednesday afternoon.

The Sherman police report now officially confirms the front right tire was recapped, failed, and caused the bus to run off the road. It then hit the guardrail and traveled more than 100 feet before falling onto the embankment of Post Oak Creek.

Twelve people died at the scene. Another five later died from their injuries.

The bus caused $15,000 worth of guardrail damage.

The report states the driver was wearing his seat belt but there were no safety belts for the other 54 passengers.

Police say the investigation into each of the 17 deaths is ongoing. When that investigation is complete, Grayson County district attorney Joe Brown will decide if charges will be filed.
