CARTER COUNTY, Okla. -- There is a new undersheriff in town, at least for Carter County residents. Tuesday was the first day on the job for Undersheriff Milton Anthony.
Anthony did not waste any time starting the new job. He retired from the Ardmore Police Department on Friday.
Anthony is a seasoned investigator who is well-known in the community and says he is excited about his new job at the Carter County Sheriff's Office.
"The undersheriff's job is mainly is assistant to the sheriff, will oversee all the operations of the sheriff's department, will act as the one in command during the absence of the sheriff, so I just look forward to that challenge," Anthony said.
The undersheriff position was unfilled for months, after Ken Grace was appointed to be the interim sheriff following Harvey Burkhart's death. Grace was elected to his first term as sheriff in July.
