SHERMAN, Tex. -- The city daycare in Sherman is not closing after all.

The Sherman city council decided to keep the facility open despite first reports it would close at the end of December.

Council members did not find any more money, but they did get a current, non-profit daycare to agree to manage the facility. Jack and Jill Daycare will take over. The city will still provide the same building.

Federal tax dollars- but not city taxes- will help pay for the facility.

"The Sherman daycare's going to continue in the same location. The city assets, the building, will be leased for a nominal sum to a not-for-profit center. The same services will be provided [at] the same location. The only difference is Sherman taxpayers won't be footing the bill for a daycare," Sherman mayor Bill Magers says.

The changes are set to take effect January 1, 2009.

I'm with you 100% self sustaining!! I have an ex (thug) daughter in law that is using her non custodial child for welfare...how can that happen??? Her dad and step mommy pay for everything but her biological 'breeder' can somehow get free stuff and welfare and she's WHITE!!!

The Sherman City Daycare is closing, only to be leased out to Jack and Jill a daycare with numerous violations. This is the quality daycare that the Counsil voted for of course influenced by the Great Bill Mayors. But remember you reap what you soe.

"did anyone else notice in the video clip that all the children were minorities?" Shame on you FederalTaxpayer, for being so racist. Was that all about? Just because those kids are "minorities" ? Shame, shame, shame...white person.

Hey "mad at YOU", maybe your mom shouldn't depend on my tax dollars to earn an over-inflated wage. In capitalism, the market drives the price of goods and SERVICES (IE, your mom's job). If the MARKET says that she isn't worth more than minimum wage, then what makes you think that my tax dollars should prop her up?

Well, it looks like my property taxes will no longer go towards supporting someone else's rugrat. That's good. Now if we could just convince the Federal government that our income taxes shouldn't go to support someone else's unprotected one night stand, we'd be all set. Fat chance with that, though. Why everyone thinks that spitting out a kid is a great feat that deserves government mandated hand-outs is beyond me. It seems common sense would dictate rewarding those that DON'T have children that they can't afford.

The Sherman daycare will be closing, and Jack and Jill who have numerous violations will lease out the building and provide that quality daycare that the Mayor is talking about and we all know what kind of snake he is. He got what he wanted but remember you always reap what you soe.
