A+ Athlete: Katelynn Burns

A | A | A

BOKCHITO, Okla. -- Our first A+ Athlete of the year is Katelynn Burns of Rock Creek High School.

Katelynn excels in her studies, ranking first in her class with a 4.0 grade point average and on the court with the game she loves.

"I love being in a leadership position," she says.

Last year Katelynn was named the team’s most valuable player and offensive player of the year, an honor which is no surprise to her coach or her teammates.

But her accolades are not just for her athletic excellence. She is a member of the Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, and has made the Principal’s and Superintendent’s Honor Roll the past couple of years. It’s an award she is proud of, considering her role model, her dad, is the superintendent.

"He was a very athletic person," Katelynn says.

Katelynn wants to be a corporate lawyer when she grows up and sees her leadership experience with her team as something that will prepare her for the future.

We'll introduce you to another A+ Athlete every Friday here on First News AM. School officials, coaches, teachers, and counselors are encouraged to send in your nominees.

A+ Athletes…
