Planes Crash in Ardmore & Marietta

5-21-06 - Two planes crashed in Ardmore and Marietta within a half hour of one another Saturday night. It appears no one was seriously injured in either crash, which were unrelated.

The first crash happened in Ardmore near Lucille Drive around 9:40pm. Two men, a father and son from Isabell, Texas, were on board the small, single-engine Cessna. It went down in a field between Lucille Drive and Refinery Road. Both men were transported to the hospital for minor injuries, but report being just a little sore.

The OHP says the plane took off from the Ardmore Airpark heading for the Downtown Executive Airport. The plane ran out of fuel and went down in a grove of trees. The FAA was on the scene Sunday morning, investigating.

The second crash happened near McGehee Catfish in Love County around 10pm. Four people, two men and two women from Azle, Texas, were on board that plane. No serious injuries are reported.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a 78 piper veered off the runway at the McGehee Airstrip and then crashed into a tree. According to the OHP, mechanical problems are to blame for the crash.
