5-21-06 - BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The police chief in Baton Rouge,
Louisiana is saying today is going to be one of the worst days in the city's history.
Police say they're holding a man who fatally wounded four people at a church and later killed his wife, who was abducted from the church along with three children. The children were all found safe.
Police now say they aren't sure if the gunman is the father of the children.
The identities of the victims haven't been released, but police suspect Anthony Bell is responsible for the five deaths, and the wounding of a fifth person at the church.
Investigators said they did not know the motive for the shooting at The Ministry of Jesus Christ church. But Chief Jeff Leduff calls the killings "senseless" and "a total waste of human life."
