From almost every level of government, the Sherwood Shores Chapel had them all. There were candidates for a variety of offices turning out to campaign.
"It's an opportunity for the community to come together over here and get to meet the candidates and hear what they have to say, what they believe in, why they are running, and what they want to do," said Larry Phillips, State Representative District 62 (R).
There were federal and state office representatives that were asked questions and talked about specific issues.
For the state representative candidates, Grayson and Fannin County, one of the main issues was transportation.
"It's got to be a mix. We have to maintain safe roads and continue to have these roads, but we also have to look at all options regarding mass transit. We need to do it with the taxpayer in mind,” said Phillips.
“We should have public transportation. There shouldn't be liquor served where there is no public transportation plus there should be public transportation going out to the Dallas airport,” said Pete Veeck, State Representative District 62 (D).
While only several dozen turned out, one candidate remembered why there might not have been others to show.
"Tonight is going great. I think the Reverend David Frierson and the church here should be commended for everybody coming out and participating trying to find out about the issues all on a night when the Dallas Cowboys are playing," said Jim Jordon, Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court candidate- (D).
