5-23-06- State officials say blood supplies at Oklahoma Blood Institutes across the state are at critically low levels heading into the Memorial Holiday weekend. Texas officials need blood, as well.
American Red Cross officials say donors are needed before the
Memorial Day weekend kicks off summertime.
Officials say one reason blood is in such a demand is that the
upcoming holiday weekend usually has many vehicle accidents in
Oklahoma and crash victims are in need of blood transfusions. They need O positive and negative, as well as A positive and negative blood.
People who want to donate blood can call the Southern Oklahoma Blood
Institute at 580-226-2220.
Those who would like to donate in Texas can call the Texoma Regional Blood Center at 903-893-4314 for donor locations.
The TRBC is holding several donor drives this week in anticipation of the high need this weekend.
