5-27-06 – A 25-year-old man drowned at a cove in the Chickasaw National Recreation area Saturday morning. According to a spokesperson for the park, a group of swimmers noticed one member of the group was missing around 11:20 a.m.
Park employees and bystanders formed a human chain and walked the cove area, searching for the victim. Just before 12:40 p.m., the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Carter County dive team helped located the man’s body. He was found in about eight feet of water.
The cove was closed temporarily, until the body was located.
The victim’s name has not been released.
