Bryan Co. Jail Administrator Resigns

05-30-06 - The administrator of Bryan County's jails is stepping down following the recent escape of two inmates.

Delois Phillips says her resignation is effective Tuesday, but she
will continue at the jail to help with paperwork. She said constant
problems at the Bryan County Auxiliary Jail, including a lack of funds, played a role in her decision.

Inmates Michael Edelen and Justin Reynolds apparently walked out
of the jail on May 18th and were captured a few days later in Florida.

Jailers weren't aware of the escape until about 10 o-clock the
next morning. The two jails in Bryan County are run by a Jail Trust Authority.
