Jesse James Cummings

A | A | A

McALESTER, Okla. (AP) - Convicted killer Jessie James Cummings Jr. has been executed for the 1991 stabbing death of his 11-year-old niece.

Department of Corrections spokesman Jerry Massie says Cummings was pronounced dead at 6:11 p.m. Thursday after receiving a lethal injection inside the death chamber at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary.

Cummings also was convicted and sentenced to death for killing his sister, Judy Mayo, but that conviction was overturned by an appeals court.

Cummings has maintained his innocence and says his two ex-wives were responsible for the killings.

The two women - Juanita and Sherry Cummings - both were sentenced to prison for their roles in the killing of Mayo.

midniteryder-hee hee...he said "rodents fuzzy posterior" and "steaming dung" classic LMAO

Posted by: midniteryder Location: Sherman on Oct 1, 2008 at 11:18 AM
Personally, John Donne, I don't give a rodent's fuzzy posterior about you or what you think. Nor do I give a pile of steaming dung for your literary rambling. Here's the bottom line, for you bleeding-heart types- a man committed a crime, was found guilty, convicted to death, and the sentence was carried out. No, this won't bring back the child, but it does rid us of one killer. I return you now to your regularly scheduled pathetic life, already in progress..........

midniteryder, apparently you failed to read the original post. It is very relevant, and the equivalent of apples and apples. If you did read it, and can't understand the relevancy, then there is nothing I can do to help you.

hey sean the only problem with the death penalty is that we got to many liberial tree hugging peta people standing in the way of the switch being pulled...this guy was pure evil at its worse you should be ashamed of even saying the word innocent in the same sentence as his name....hope you rot in hell jessie for the pian you caused..and take dope smokin sean with you..

Oh goody, the reincarnation of Ernest Hemingway! Criminy Pete- we're talking about the execution of a murderer in Oklahoma, and Mr. Literacy shows up. Apples and oranges here, JD- apples and oranges. The Hemingway festival is next door.

It isn't me that is active. It is my words and my beliefs. However, I feel in this jaded society the world has become, those are on the endangered list.

Posted by: myself Location: texas on Sep 30, 2008 at 01:15 PM
John Donne you are very active for someone who's been dead for 377 years.

Don't bury that monster next to that little girl and her mother!! That is EXTREMELY SICK!!! Go dump him off somewhere else.

Here, you neophytes, read up on me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Donne

Count me as one that has never heard of "John Donne"!

Posted by: John Donne Location: Saddened on Sep 27, 2008 at 10:02 PM
Why would I have ever thought that I would find intelligent people here? Have you never heard of me, nor ever read anything of merit? I am saddened, not only by this, but how much mankind has turned on its own, and finds pleasure in its own suffering. Send not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.

I think all the people that are put to death;while in prison should be cremated. They lost all human rights when the became monsters and took the life of someone else.. Cremation would also would benefit the enviroment. the monsters would not take up so much of our precious land.

Posted by: Mary Location: Sherman on Sep 26, 2008 at 06:16 PM
I agree, I'm glad he's gone but my problem is where they're putting the body. I think that's just sick and he has NO business being put there!!

Posted by: chassity Location: thackerville on Sep 26, 2008 at 05:14 PM
Thanks Oklahoma keep up the good work.. It was a little to long..but at least we don;t have to worry about that monster hurting any more children.

Posted by: Oklahoma Location: Oklahoma on Sep 26, 2008 at 04:26 PM

Posted by: cc Location: coalgate on Sep 26, 2008 at 03:55 PM

Posted by: texan Location: texas on Sep 26, 2008 at 02:54 PM
John Donne, what in the world are you even talking about? Do you need help?

Posted by: okie Location: anywhere on Sep 26, 2008 at 01:13 PM
now that this evil person is dead, now do you want to know where they are burying him? right next to the ones he killed. i think he should have been buried where he died at.

Posted by: John Donne Location: At peace on Sep 26, 2008 at 11:54 AM
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind...

I find it very sad that so many Oklahomas feel that the justice system failed in this case. If you lived in this area and were here during the time of the investigation you would have to be proud of the people that worked this horrible incident. And the emotional turmoil it caused in our little area of Oklahoma. I am proud that it is finished. And I am very proud of our local law enforcement and justice system.

"Suffer the Children" is a true crime book, that tells just what kind of monster he was. Lethal Injection was to human for this animal. Besides that he should have had his "medicine" long ago. He lived in prison 14 years, the niece was 11.

Posted by: Dumbfounded Location: Grayson County on Sep 26, 2008 at 10:03 AM
The world is not a better place??? Now that makes me want to puke. This guy was convicted for killing his sister AND his neice...give me a break...more than just a coincidence. He is in hell where he should be

Posted by: Barbara Location: East Texas on Sep 26, 2008 at 09:24 AM
The world is absolutely a better place since Jesse is no longer around. I attended the trial and wrote a book about this case. Jesse was evil, and the fact that his last statement was that he loved his family and children is laughable. Jesse horribly tortured and mentally broke down every one he claimed to love. The world is not only a better place because he no longer exists, but justice has been rendered for his victims.

Posted by: Sean on Sep 26, 2008 at 09:16 AM
He is dead now!!!!!There is nothing more to do!!!MAYBE and innocent man died????We will never know!!This is the problem with the death penalty.

Posted by: Mork Location: Ork on Sep 26, 2008 at 08:32 AM
Aren't all our death row guest ..... I mean prisoners innocent? (at least that's their story and by god they're stickin' to it!)

Way overdue for this. He should have been gut shot and had a hot poker jammed down his throat years ago.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 25, 2008 at 11:04 PM
Why on earth did it take 17 yrs to execute him? Convict him. Sentence him. Execute him. Whats so hard about that? And yes i understand there has to be appeals but come on now. Just do it already.
