DURANT, Okla. -- Southeastern Oklahoma State University's CERT team got a chance to practice their skills Thursday night.
More than a dozen students took part in a drill to test the team’s readiness in case of a tornado or other emergency situation.
The SOSU team is the first university-based community emergency response team in the state of Oklahoma.
This is the first training for SOSU students involved in the class.
"This class is a way to train our students and community and citizens to have the knowledge to assist us if an incident actually occurred." CERT manager Marlin Blankenship says.
CERT officials say they hope to open this class to the public in the future.
