KINGSTON, Okla. -- Family, Friends, and the Kingston community turned out to pay tribute to Corporal Michael Thompson. Services for the fallen soldier were held at the Kingston High School auditorium.

"Today our thoughts and prayers are with his family because they, and we at the national guard mourn the loss of Corporal Thompson," said Lt. Col. Jon Harrison.

Thompson and six others died in a helicopter crash in Iraq on September 18th. He was buried in Shay Cemetery in Shay, Oklahoma.

Michael Thompson May you rest in the arms of God forever and ever. To your family I am so deeply sorry, There are no words that can ease your pain. My prayers and thoughts are with each and every one of you.

I pray this morning for this family, and offer my deepest respects and hope that God will comfort you in your time of loss as only he can. I would also like to say thank you to Corporal Thompson and his family, for the ultimate sacrifice he has made. It is because of young men and women like him that we all have the fredoom and security we have in this country. God Bless you!
