COOKE CO., TX -- Three people charged in a Cooke County homicide pleaded not guilty to the crime Friday.

Marcy Leigh Hunt, Fabian Cervantez and Dammond Johnson were indicted on capitol Murder Charges in December.

Back in September, 44-year-old Alberto Gonzalez, of Dallas, was found dead at the home he was remodeling on the 700 block of North Taylor Street.

Investigators say they believe Gonzalez was beaten to death.

The mother of Cervantez, Grace Garcia, says her son worked with Gonzalez and doesn't believe her son killed him.

Garcia said, "I know my son is not a murderer. He was running around with the wrong crowd at the wrong time. Deep in my heart a mother should know, and I do not feel that he did."

The DA's office says Cervantez, Hunt and Johnson are set for their announcement in April.
