6-10-06 – A Denison family is settling into their new home built by Habitat for Humanity. Saturday, volunteers and the new home owners gathered for a dedication ceremony at the three bedroom home on East Hull Street.
After breaking ground in February, the new homeowners worked with community volunteers to build and complete the home in less than six months.
A family of six is settling into the home. Tonya Brown says this is the first home they have ever owned. For her husband and four teenager daughters, the move is a dream come true.
This is the 13th Habitat for Humanity home built in Grayson County. Another is scheduled to be built in October.
In Grayson County, families interested in applying for a Habitat Home must meet three criteria in Grayson County: they must live in substandard housing, must be able to pay for some of the home’s costs, and must have a qualifying income.
Each qualifying family must contribute at least 350 hours of labor to help build the home. The house is valued at about $50,000.
