SHERMAN, Tex. -- Sherman police are training new officers Thursday on the use of tasers.

Taser training started Thursday. Each of the new recruits were tased to see what that pain would feel like on suspect. It is a normal training method for most departments.

Recruits say they are just glad to get it over with.

"Ever since I got hired I knew I’d be taser trained. That's been almost a year now, so once the class was scheduled, the anticipation worse than getting tased itself," patrolman Zachary Flores of the Sherman Police Department said.

Officers have been using the tasers for several years now as an alternative way to catch suspects.
