SHERMAN, Tex. -- With winter weather around the corner, your natural gas bill is usually a concern as the colder months approach. Rashi Vats has more on the price of heating your home.
The natural gas industry says there should be plenty to go around, so supply is not a concern. But industry analysts say the demand is not likely to spike the price either. They are likely to be about the same as last winter.
Although nearly a dozen of the natural gas production facilities in the Gulf of Mexico was shut down because of recent hurricanes, there is just one of the twelve still shut down, which industry experts say that should reopen sometime this week.
Matt Willeford, the CEO of Douglass Distributing Carriers, says he expects gas inventories to be well above the five-year average at the start of winter.
"I don't foresee any kind of heating fuel propane or natural gas shortages that we've had to deal with," Willeford says.
Willeford also says the slowing economy could reduce industry demand for gas, and a milder-than-normal winter could also help.
