Stringtown Inmate Captured After Escape

Authorities in Atoka County found 52 year old Jerry Deatherage behind the Choctaw Gaming Center in Stringtown just after 6 a.m. Thursday.

Officials with the Oklahoma Dept. of Corrections say Deatherage was discovered missing during a routine head count around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. He was found approximately 3 miles from the Alford Unit.

According to the Dept. of Corrections website, Deatherage is serving a 20 year prison sentence for robbery with an imitation firearm. He was convicted in Cleveland County.

The following is a news release from the DOC:

On June 16, 2006, at approximately 1:30 a.m., inmate Jerry Deatherage was missing during a routine count at Mack Alford Correctional Center Minimum Security Unit. Deatherage is currently serving a 20 year sentence out of Cleveland County for four (4) counts of “Robbery with Imitation Firearm.”
At approximately 6:00 a.m. on this date, Deatherage was apprehended approximately 2 miles south of Mack Alford Correctional Center. Deatherage is back in custody at the facility at this time.
