Extradition Begins for Fugitives

6-15-06 - The extradition of a Bryan County fugitive is underway today. Justin Reynolds is one of two men who escaped from the auxiliary jail back in May. He got to Florida before authorities tracked him down a few days later.

If all goes according to plan, authorities with Bryan County and the U.S. Marshals will be flying to Key West to bring back Reynolds and two other people accused of helping Reynolds and Michael Edelen stay at-large.

Edelen is being held in Ft. Lauderdale and Reynolds is in a Key West jail, along with Cassie Wells and Justin Bacon.

Reynolds is a two-time escapee. He broke out of the jail with Kevin Cross back in February.

For security purposes, the Sheriff is not saying exactly when the 3 will arrive back in Durant. The Choctaw Nation is allowing them to borrow an aircraft to make the trip and cut down on the cost.

Deputies say it could be a couple of months before Edelen is extradited. Ft. Lauderdale authorities are holding him on other criminal charges.
