ARDMORE, Okla. -- With talk around the country about the state of the economy, a local congressman stopped in Ardmore to hear what his constituents have to say.

Representative Tom Cole joined business leaders and residents Wednesday night at the Ardmore Convention Center.

The group talked about the situation on Wall Street and how it affects Main Street.

Cole, the Oklahoma District 4 Representative, says he believes the two parties working together have made things better, but that we are still on shaky ground.

"We have had a degree of protection here, because of a pretty buoyant economy, our home values are beginning to go down, and our markets are beginning to freeze up, and you can either let nature take its course, which I think was very dangerous in this case, or you could engage in some positive activity on a bipartisan basis," Rep. Tom Cole\(R) Oklahoma said.

Dozens of people from Carter County and Love County attended the forum.
