The Texoma Medical Center is looking for a financial partner to help them expand their healthcare facility, which could include a for-profit agency. In a news conference Friday, TMC officials explained that they do not have the capital to do that one their own. The following is a news release from the Texoma Healthcare System, regarding plans to seek a financial partner for the future.
Over the past year Texoma Medical Center has undertaken an extensive review of its market, services, facilities and competitive position in order to determine the appropriate strategic direction that will ensure that its mission to enhance the physical, mental and spiritual health of all residents in the Texoma region is fulfilled long into the future.
The Board of Directors, administrators, physicians and employees at TMC are very proud of the high quality of care provided to the residents of Denison, Grayson County and the surrounding communities each and every day. However, the current inpatient facility, which was originally constructed in the early 1960’s, has significant limitations that will impact TMC’s ability to continue to deliver the level of healthcare that patients deserve in the long term.
It has been determined that the cost to develop and construct a new state-of-the-art healthcare facility is beyond the financial means of TMC and therefore, after extensive deliberation, the Board of Directors has decided to explore strategic partnership alternatives. According to TMC Board Chairman Jerdy Gary, “It is critical for the future of our entire area to have a new state-of-the-art Acute Care Hospital that matches up with the very best hospital facilities located in the metroplex. We are excited about the prospect of partnering with a healthcare organization that will continue to provide quality healthcare and offer the latest technology and equipment. The growth of this area is inevitable and we want to position ourselves to be able to offer the very best for the people of Texoma into the next century.”
TMC seeks a partner with the expertise and capital resources to develop a new state-of-the-art hospital facility that will be highly accessible and provide the citizens of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma with comprehensive healthcare services; will have compatible mission, vision, values; will develop a full complement of programs and services that extend the breadth and depth of existing programs; will integrate tools, resources, and processes designed to deliver and demonstrate high quality care and patient satisfaction; will maintain existing physician relationships and expand physician recruitment and will continue to enhance the environment that fosters outstanding, caring employees who take pride in their workplace.
TMC is looking forward to these potential opportunities in the exploration of strategic partnership options. “We are confident that the appropriate strategic partner will provide the resources to ensure that our employees and physicians will continue to enhance the high quality healthcare services that they currently provide and will allow TMC to achieve its vision as the pre-eminent integrated healthcare system in the Texoma region,” says W. Mackey Watkins, M.D., President/CEO of Texoma Medical Center.
