SHERMAN, Tex. ― An 80-year-old man was found dead in his Sherman home from a single gunshot wound Wednesday morning.

Just before eight o’clock Wednesday morning, Sherman police received a 911 call from the victim’s home at Brockett and Maxey, but no one was on the other end of the line of that 911 call.

When police arrived they found 80-year-old Clyde Guess dead in his bedroom from a single gunshot wound and the back door of the house wide open.

While police will not release information into the shooting they do say circumstances surrounding the shooting are “suspicious.”

Neighbors say they are shocked something like this could happen so close to their homes.

"I think it’s horrible because this man here, he didn't deserve that. He's a good man, a good, Christian man," neighbor Lola Milan said.

Police say they need to collect more evidence to determine whether this was a burglary or just a random act of violence
