The city of Durant is bringing back a piece of the town's history.
Local leaders held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday morning at the old Market Square, the new site for a project that Durant city leaders hope will help improve the area.
This is phase two of the city's streetscape project. It will include brick pavement, street lights, and a performing stage.
Donna Dow of Durant Main Street said, "I think for our economy, it's really going to mean a lot."
Phase two is expected to cost $580,000, but most of that will be funded by O-DOT.
