7-2-06 – Turner Falls had to turn park-goers away Sunday just three and a half hours after opening its gates. Park officials say the park was filled to capacity.
The gates were closed at 10:30 a.m. after more than 10,000 people entered the park. Park officials say they maintain certain numbers as a safety precaution. For more than five hours on Sunday, no one was allowed in until about 3:30 p.m.
Turner Falls provides updated information about closures on their hotline: 580-369-2988.
The park manager says employees refer people to the nearby Chickasaw National Park in Sulphur when Turner Falls in Davis fills to capacity.
