7-9-06 – In Pontotoc County, deputies are investigating a case in which a man wrote the Sheriff’s Office a letter, claiming he would take the law into his own hands. Deputies were given a letter Sunday from a man who lives in Francis, Oklahoma. In the letter, the man wrote that if he caught anyone vandalizing or trespassing on his property, he would shoot them with rock salts.
In the letter, the man claims that he reported vandalism on his property to the city manager and sheriff’s office several times, but got no results.
Deputies met with the man on Sunday. Authorities say they take any kind of threat seriously. Authorities say they’ll take the case to the District Attorney to determine if charges should be filed.
Deputies say they receive several vandalism and trespassing calls a week from residents in the area.
