HEALDTON, Okla. ― The Carter County E-911 system will soon be handling all of Healdton’s 911 calls, but the switch over to the county's system is not going to be a simple one.

Healdton’s city manager said Friday it will be a drawn-out process. Almost every single city address is going to have to be changed to comply with the national emergency 911 system that Carter County uses.

She said the first step is appointing a city coordinator to work with the county in changing over all the addresses.

The Healdton city manager said that appointment will probably be made some time next week.

I have had my house # changed 3 times since I've lived here (28 years) and have had 2 different box numbers and not a one of those changes were initiated by me, all done by the city of Healdton. and we still have a stupid numbering system. my house # has been both odd and even. Maybe now we will get something with some rhyme or reason and it will STAY!!! Go E-911!!!

WHY CHANGE ADDRESSES - THAT IS NONSENSE ASSESSOR'S OFFICE HAS THE CORRECT ADDRESS, COPY THAT... THE END, NO NEED FOR SINCE LESS BS

This thing failed twice before, and now after reading the above, I wished I'd pushed harder to NOT have it passed. I voted against it two other times. This is a fine example of how the City of Healdton works.. I'm sorry I fell for this one this time. Why does EVERY address have to be changed? What is wrong with the City streets and house number staying the same. It makes no sense to me, except for someone trying to make sure they have a job in the Carter County 911 office. Well here we go Healdton.. get ready for some of the most ridiculas names and numbers..... we'll never be the same.

THEY SAID THAT THE STREET NAMES WOULD NOT HAVE TO BE CHANGED. AND WHY DOES IT MAKE THAT BIG OF A DEAL. I HAVE LIVED IN THE SAME PLACE FOR 30 YRS AND HAVE HAD 4 OR 5 DIFFERENT ADDRESSES!! I THINK THEY NEED TO CHANGE ADDRESSESS THAT WAY WE WILL HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF SEQUENCE TO THESE HOUSE NUMBERS. THERE ARE 4 HOUSES ON MY STREET AND THERE IS NO KIND OF ORDER TO THE NUMBERS. IT JUMPS AROUND FROM 2 TO 89. WHAT KIND OF SENSE DOES THAT MAKE?

After people were coercing people into voting for it, now they admit that every address has to be changed. It is a perfect example of using half-truths to get people to support something and then letting the truth come out after the fact.
